Copyright Overview
The Speakeasy Instance and Website are governed by three distinct copyright frameworks.
The majority of the Speakeasy website and Instance information provided on bardicperspiration.club is governed by a modified Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International license.
Speakeasy Site & Framework Material
Most sophonts, intelligent entities, and other non-commercial instances (non-excepted entities) are free to use the content in the Home, Rules, Mod Policies, Blocklists, Contact, Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Copyright, and Pact of Noncompliance sections of this site, and in About sections of the Instance as long as they are not mispresenting themselves as the Speakeasy or its members and they provide credit back to the Speakeasy in the form of a citation or link to speakeasy.bardicperspiration.com. Excepted sophonts, intelligent entities, and noncommercial instances are detailed below.
Speakeasers
The individual speakeaser content on the site, including but not limited to the profiles in the Members section, is the property of the individual speakeasers. Use of that content is governed by standard copyright law unless they explicitly state otherwise. Similarly, individual speakeaser content on the instance is the property of its creator; the Speakeasy is merely granted a non-exclusive license to facilitate their participation in the Fediverse.
By exercising your rights to our content as outlined above, you agree to also be bound by our Terms of Service and our rules.

Neocat - The Neocat Emoji set created by Volpeon is governed by the by the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.0 License.

Non-Excepted Entites
Under this license, non-excepted entities are free to use the material detailed in the Speakeasy Site & Framework Material section of this Copyright in the following ways:
- Share - Copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format as long as appropriate credit (link or citation) is provided.
- Adapt - Remix, transform, and build upon the material as long as appropriate credit (link or citation) is provided.
As noted above, Speakeaser owned material is governed by the copyright laws applicable to the individual speakeaser. However, each speakeaser grants both the Speakeasy and the Fediverse generally a non-exclusive, revocable license to the content they share on bardicperspiration.club to be used in ways consistent with the functionality of the fediverse itself.
Speakeasers may, at any time, revoke the license to their content. The Speakeasy will make reasonable efforts to remove the speakeaser's copyrighted material from the Instance. Copyrighted material on host backups or on other fediverse servers is outside of the Speakeasy's area of responsibility and fall on the speakeaser to address.
License Terms
We cannot revoke your freedom to share or adapt our work as long as you follow these license terms.
- Attribution - You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
- Non-Commercial - You may not use the material for commercial purposes without prior authorization. Ad revenue derived in whole or in part based on the use of our content shall constitute a violation of this non-commercial clause.
- ShareAlike - If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions under the same license as the original work. If you have obtained authorization to use the material for commercial purposes, you must nonetheless allow attributed sharing and adaptation under this original license.
- No additional restrictions - You may not apply legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from doing anything that this license permits.
Excepted Entities - Private Individuals
Individuals who have been blocked or defederated because we determined that they violated the Speakeasy Terms or Service or Rules are not granted our standard license. Instead, they are bound by the following terms.
Standard copyright laws apply to your use of the copyrighted material on this site. You agree, by using the material covered in the Speakeasy Site and Framework Material, to pay a licensing fee of no less than 15% of your gross yearly income or $5000 US Dollars, whichever is greater, for your use of the site or its contents.
Speakeaser created material not on the Instance is governed by the copyright laws applicable to the individual speakeaser. Whatever terms they set for the use of their material applies.
Each speakeaser grants both the Speakeasy and the Fediverse generally a non-exclusive, revocable license to the content they share on bardicperspiration.club to be used in ways consistent with the functionality of the fediverse itself. They acknowledge that this may occasionally federate with as of yet unidentified bigoted or otherwise objectionable servers and accept the risk of that by using the instance at bardicperspiration.club
Excepted Entities - Corpo Fucks
We do not recognize the right of corporations to pillage the Internet as if it is their own personal buffet. As such, any Corpo Fuck using this site or any content derived from this site agrees that they will pay the following licensing fees:
- Scraping the Site - You agree to pay 0.01% of your company's gross annual revenue for every static page scraped, each time that page is scraped for use. By scraping the pages of this site, you're confirming that we're super fucking legit and that you'll gladly pay our licensing fees. You agree that by scraping the site, you waive any available copyright defenses available to you.
- Reposting our Content - You agree that reposting our content without permission grants us the rights to any profits derived from its use,to the domain on which the content was posted, and to any other benefits derived from its use. You also agree that your use of our content is your enthusiastic willingness to pay for any expenses associated with your use.
Excepted Entities - Everyone Else
Government entities and other, non-corpo, non-private individuals agree to be bound by copyright law. These terms will change as we figure out an avenue to fight you too.
